The geophysicist will be responsible for performing and assisting with surface and borehole geophysical survey planning, proposal preparation, project budgeting, data collection, data interpretation and report preparation. You will integrate closely with other geoscientists to complete projects. Typical projects use GPR, EM, ERI, magnetometer, seismic and various borehole logging methods to characterize the subsurface for environmental and engineering applications.  The ideal candidate will have 5 plus years relevant experience.  

Required Skills, Education and Experience

Field Support Engineer

Mount Sopris Instrument Company has an immediate opening for a field support engineer.  Duties for this position include commissioning of Mount Sopris logging systems at remotes sites around the world, normally followed by training of our customers in the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all logging hardware.  In addition, on-site training of our customers in the use of WellCAD log processing software is frequently required.  The position is based in Denver, Colorado, USA.  While not in the field, this position will also provide support to our sales, production, and rental departments.  The ideal candidate should enjoy international travel, and be prepared to spend weeks or more away from home, in remote locations, wherever our customers may operate.  A four year degree with emphasis in electronics, geophysics or related studies is desired, with at least two years’ experience operating Mount Sopris or similar logging equipment.  The ability to work independently and be able to solve problems in a field environment is desired.  Preference will be given to candidates who speak more than one language, and have demonstrated experience in training others.  A valid driver’s license is required.

Our National Security Global Business is currently seeking a Geophysics Research Scientist. This position is located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.  Our geophysics group specializes in state-of-the-art airborne magnetic and electromagnetic surveying for near-surface targets such as unexploded ordnance (UXO) and infrastructure (pipelines), as well as electrical conductivity mapping for detailed assessments of earthen levees or other subsurface features of interest.

The Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI) and the Department of Civil Engineering (CE) at the University of Memphis invite nominations and applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2012. We seek a colleague to complement existing expertise in seismology, earthquake hazards, earthquake engineering, and structural engineering at both CERI and CE. Desired areas of research interest for this position include, but are not limited to, source characterization, wave propagation, site response characterization, and loss estimation.
